On the morning of your second day in Egypt, enjoy your tasty breakfast at the hotel, then your private tour guide will pick you up to begin your unparalleled adventure in the land of Pharaohs.

First, we will visit the Giza Pyramids Complex, built around 2600 BC to preserve the heritage of the kings of the 4th Dynasty: Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, and to honor their journey to the afterlife in the Field of Reeds.

Next, we will explore the Great Pyramid of Khufu, created in 2570 BC as one of the most hypnotic architectural wonders ever made and the last surviving of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. This incredible structure was built using 2.3 million limestone blocks weighing a total of 6 million tons, reaching a height of 138.5 meters (454.4 ft). It remains the largest construction of its kind in the world, featuring highly advanced interior chambers.

Next, we will see the Great Sphinx, also known as Horus of the Horizon, a majestic statue that reflects the face of Pharaoh Khafre (2558–2532 BC) seated on the body of a mythical lion. The Sphinx symbolizes endless power, endurance, and wisdom, protecting the treasures of Giza.

We will then visit the Valley Temple, built during the Old Kingdom (2686–2125 BC), which served as the mortuary temple for the mummification of kings and queens of the 4th Dynasty. This temple is where the “Opening of the Mouth” ceremony was performed, symbolizing eternal life.

Next, we will explore the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), a state-of-the-art billion-dollar facility aligned with the Giza Pyramids and spanning nearly 490,000 square meters. GEM offers a portal to 5,000 years of Egyptian history, showcasing artistry, spirituality, and innovation. Here, you can marvel at treasures such as the Hanging Obelisk, the 11-meter Colossus of Ramses II, and the complete collection of over 5,000 artifacts from Tutankhamun. GEM also houses one of the largest conservation centers in the Middle East, research labs, and educational facilities dedicated to preserving Egypt’s heritage.

Afterward, we will enjoy lunch at a Pyramid-view restaurant, offering delicious meals with a magnificent backdrop of the ancient wonders.

Finally, we will continue to the Saqqara Step Pyramid, the golden marvel of King Djoser, built between 2670–2650 BC. Designed by Imhotep, the high priest of Ra, this pyramid was the first of its kind, launching the era of pyramid construction that eventually led to the colossal pyramids of Giza. The Step Pyramid was completed in less than 20 years and remains a symbol of innovation and ancient Egyptian grandeur

Where is Abu Simbel located?

Abu Simbel Temples are located in southern Egypt near the Sudanese border, about 280 km (175 miles) southwest of Aswan, on the western bank of Lake Nasser.

Why is Abu Simbel famous?

The temples were built by Pharaoh Ramesses II in the 13th century BC. They are famous for their colossal statues and for the incredible relocation project in the 1960s to save them from flooding after the construction of the Aswan High Dam.

Is Abu Simbel included in a standard Nile Cruise?

Usually, no. Most Nile Cruises sail between Luxor and Aswan. While they don't sail to Abu Simbel, almost all cruises offer it as an optional add-on excursion while the ship is docked in Aswan.

How much time do you need at Abu Simbel?

Visitors usually spend 2–3 hours exploring both the Great Temple of Ramesses II and the Temple of Queen Nefertari.

Is Abu Simbel suitable for children and seniors?

Yes. The site is accessible and relatively flat, but the heat can be intense. Early morning visits are recommended for families and seniors.

Is Abu Simbel worth visiting?

Absolutely. The scale, history, and preservation story of Abu Simbel make it one of Egypt’s most breathtaking archaeological sites and a highlight of any trip to Egypt.

Can I go inside the temples?

Yes! Unlike the Great Sphinx, your entry ticket includes access to the inner chambers of both the Great Temple of Ramesses II and the Temple of Nefertari. You can walk all the way back to the "Holy of Holies" sanctuary.

What is the Abu Simbel Sun Festival?

The Abu Simbel Sun Festival happens twice a year (around February 22 and October 22). On these dates, sunlight illuminates the inner sanctuary statues, an incredible ancient astronomical achievement.

Can Abu Simbel be done as a day trip?

Yes, it is commonly done as a day trip from Aswan, typically departing very early in the morning and returning by early afternoon.

Is Abu Simbel worth visiting?

Absolutely. The scale, history, and preservation story of Abu Simbel make it one of Egypt’s most breathtaking archaeological sites and a highlight of any trip to Egypt.
