15 Day Grand Egypt Legacy: Cairo, Alexandria, Nile Cruise & Sharm El Sheikh

After breakfast, you will travel by private air-conditioned vehicle to begin a full-day tour of one of the most iconic archaeological sites in the world, the Giza Pyramids Complex. This legendary site is home to the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Great Sphinx, and the Valley Temple, offering a fascinating insight into the history and beliefs of ancient Egypt. These monumental structures have stood for more than 5,000 years, reflecting the architectural brilliance of the Old Kingdom.

The tour includes a visit to the Great Pyramid of Pharaoh Khufu (2609–2584 BC), built around 2570 BC as the royal tomb of the king. Designed by his chief architect Hemiunu, the pyramid originally rose to a height of 146 meters (481 feet), making it the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years. Constructed from approximately 2.3 million limestone blocks, the pyramid showcases remarkable engineering, visible in the King’s Chamber, Queen’s Chamber, and the Grand Gallery.

You will then visit the Great Sphinx, the iconic guardian of the Giza Plateau. Carved from a single mass of limestone, this monumental statue features the body of a lion and the head of a pharaoh, widely believed to represent King Khafre (2558–2532 BC). The Sphinx measures 73 meters in length, 19 meters in width, and 20 meters in height, symbolizing strength, wisdom, and royal authority.

Next, you will explore the Valley Temple, a well-preserved mortuary temple used during the mummification and funeral rituals of the Fourth Dynasty pharaohs. Built from massive limestone blocks, the temple played a key role in the sacred Opening of the Mouth ceremony, which was central to ancient Egyptian burial traditions.

After the tour, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then continue with your guide to visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, located near the Giza Pyramids. This world-class museum, covering nearly 490,000 square meters, is one of the largest archaeological museums in the world. It showcases the artistic, cultural, and architectural achievements of ancient Egypt through thousands of priceless artifacts, including the Hanging Obelisk, the colossal statue of Ramses II, and the complete Tutankhamun collection of over 5,000 artifacts.

After the excursion, you will return to your hotel to enjoy dinner, with soft drinks available throughout the day, completing an enjoyable and relaxing day by the Red Sea.

After breakfast at your hotel, you will embark on a remarkable journey to St. Catherine’s Monastery, one of the oldest continuously inhabited Christian monasteries in the world. Built between 548 and 565 AD at the foot of Mount Sinai—believed to be the mountain where Moses received the Ten Commandments—the monastery is named after St. Catherine of Alexandria, a Christian martyr of the 4th century.

The monastery is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and features a collection of remarkable structures, including the fortified walls, the Church of St. Catherine, the Chapel of the Burning Bush, and several other chapels and buildings. The Church of St. Catherine is renowned for its Byzantine architecture and houses an impressive collection of religious icons, manuscripts, and artifacts, including the world’s oldest continually operating library, home to the Codex Sinaiticus and Syriac Sinaiticus.

After breakfast, you will fly to Luxor, where you will meet your tour guide and begin exploring the city’s magnificent ancient temples.

You will start with the Karnak Temple, a vast site dedicated primarily to Amun, along with his consort Mut and their son Khonsu. Constructed and expanded by various pharaohs over nearly 2,000 years (from the Middle Kingdom to the Ptolemaic era, 1970–30 BC), the complex covers over 100 hectares (274 acres) and includes temples, pylons, sanctuaries, and other structures. Highlights include the Great Hypostyle Hall with its 134 massive columns, some reaching 23 meters, and the Avenue of Sphinx leading to Luxor Temple.

Next, you will visit Luxor Temple, an extraordinary monument completed around 1400 BC. Built and enhanced by rulers such as Amenhotep III, Ramesses II, Tutankhamun, and Alexander the Great, the temple was the center of royal festivals like the Opet Festival, symbolizing the rejuvenation of kingship. The temple is renowned for its grand pylons, spacious courtyards, colossal statues, obelisks, and magnificent colonnade, reflecting the grandeur and architectural brilliance of ancient Egypt.

After breakfast, you will join your tour guide to explore the miraculous treasures of Thebes, beginning with the Valley of the Kings. This royal necropolis served as the final resting place for pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom period (1550–1070 BCE). Hidden among the hills, the valley contains 63 rock-cut tombs, including those of Tutankhamun, Ramses II, and Seti I. The tombs are adorned with intricate wall paintings and hieroglyphics that depict religious, cultural, and funerary scenes, offering deep insight into ancient Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife.

You will then visit Hatshepsut Temple, a magnificent monument dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut (1507–1458 BC), one of Egypt’s most successful rulers. Situated at the base of cliffs, the temple is a masterpiece of ancient Egyptian architecture, featuring three terraced levels connected by ramps and colonnades. Its walls are covered with detailed reliefs depicting Hatshepsut’s achievements and divine lineage.

Finally, you will see the Colossi of Memnon, two enormous statues that once guarded the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III (1386–1349 BC). Carved from quartzite, each statue stands about 18 meters (60 feet) tall and weighs 720 tons, representing the pharaoh seated on his throne. These colossal figures are remarkable examples of ancient Egyptian monumental sculpture.

After breakfast on your Nile Cruise, you will join your tour guide to explore two of Upper Egypt’s most remarkable temples.

You will first visit Edfu Temple, an exceptional example of ancient Egyptian architecture and art. This well-preserved temple was dedicated to Horus, the sky falcon god of victory and protection, and was built during the Ptolemaic period (237–57 BCE) on the site where Horus is believed to have defeated his uncle Set. The temple features grand pylons, courtyards, halls, and sanctuaries, all adorned with intricate reliefs and hieroglyphs, providing valuable insight into the religious beliefs and rituals of ancient Egypt.

Next, you will explore the Kom Ombo Temple, a unique double temple dedicated to two gods: Sobek, the crocodile god, and Haroeris (Horus the Elder). Constructed between 180–47 BCE during the Ptolemaic period and completed in the Roman era, the temple’s dual design mirrors itself on the northern and southern sides, with identical halls and sanctuaries for each deity. The walls are richly decorated with reliefs depicting medical instruments, surgical procedures, astronomical knowledge, and mythological stories, offering a fascinating glimpse into the science and culture of ancient Egypt.

At the end of your day you will return to your Nile Cruise to spend the overnight.

After breakfast, you will travel with your tour guide to explore the main landmarks of Aswan.

You will start with the Aswan High Dam, a modern engineering marvel built across the Nile River in the 1960s for flood control, hydroelectric power, and irrigation. The dam created Lake Nasser, one of the largest artificial lakes in the world, and has had a major impact on the region.

Next, you will visit the Unfinished Obelisk, a massive granite obelisk that was never completed due to a crack appearing during carving. If finished, it would have stood about 42 meters (137 feet) tall. The site provides valuable insight into ancient Egyptian stone quarrying techniques.

Afterward, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before heading to Philae Temple, one of the last temples built in Egypt during the Ptolemaic period (280 BC). The temple is dedicated to Isis, the goddess of motherhood, and features the main temple, pylons, courts, and sanctuaries decorated with intricate reliefs depicting religious rituals and scenes from the myth of Osiris.

In the evening, take a flight back to Cairo and check in to your hotel and spend the overnight.

After breakfast, we will transfer you to Cairo Airport to take your flight to cairo. You will start at the Egyptian Museum, home to a vast collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts. Completed in 1901, the museum showcases the artistic brilliance and history of a 5,000-year-old civilization, including statues, jewelry, and treasures from Tutankhamun’s tomb.

Next, you will visit the Hanging Church, one of Egypt’s oldest Coptic Christian churches, dating back to the 3rd century AD. Built above the gatehouse of a Roman fortress, it features beautiful Coptic architecture, intricate woodwork, colorful icons, and ancient religious artifacts, serving as the seat of the Coptic Orthodox Pope.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you will explore Al Muizz Street, a historic avenue established in 970 AD during the Fatimid period. Stretching for about 1 km, it is filled with magnificent mosques, madrasas, and historic buildings adorned with intricate decorations, reflecting the rich Islamic architectural heritage of medieval Cairo.

You will then visit Khan El-Khalili Bazaar, one of the largest and most famous bazaars in the Middle East, built during the Mamluk period (1382–1389). The bazaar is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, narrow winding streets, and diverse shops selling traditional crafts, textiles, jewelry, spices, and souvenirs.

At the end of your day you will return to your hotel to spend the overnight.

After breakfast, you will set out on a full-day tour to Alexandria, beginning with the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa. This fascinating 2nd-century AD underground burial site was created for a wealthy family and reflects a unique fusion of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman architectural styles. The catacombs feature tombs, chambers, and passageways adorned with intricate reliefs and sculptures.

Next, you will visit the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the modern revival of the ancient Library of Alexandria, inaugurated in 2002. The library serves as a center for learning, research, and cultural exchange, housing a vast collection of books, manuscripts, and multimedia resources, as well as several museums, art galleries, and exhibition spaces.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you will continue to the Qaitbay Citadel, a majestic fortress built by Mamluk Sultan Qaitbay (1477–1479 AD) on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The citadel features strong defensive walls, towers, and courtyards, offering a glimpse into the city’s rich military history.

Finally, you will see Pompey’s Pillar, an impressive ancient Roman column made of red granite, standing approximately 27 meters (88 feet) tall. Erected in the 3rd century AD in honor of Roman Emperor Diocletian, it is one of the largest ancient monoliths in Egypt.

At the end of your day you will head back to your hotel to spend the overnight.
