Explore the hidden gems of the Theban Necropolis with a specialized full-day tour of Luxor’s West Bank. Deluxe Tours Egypt invites you to discover the "City of the Dead" from a unique perspective, focusing on the elegantly decorated tombs and monumental mortuary temples that define the New Kingdom era.
Your journey begins at the Valley of the Queens , where you can witness the artistic brilliance of the royal consorts' tombs. The itinerary continues to the highly preserved Medinet Habu, the mortuary temple of Ramses III, famous for its deep-relief carvings and original colors. You will also visit the Ramesseum, the memorial temple of Ramses II, and the fascinating village of Deir El-Medina, where the artisans who built the royal tombs once lived. Accompanied by a professional Egyptologist and traveling in a private A/C vehicle, we ensure a comfortable and deeply insightful discovery of these historic treasures. Book this Luxor West Bank day trip to uncover the rare and majestic landmarks of ancient Egypt.
First, you’ll meet your private tour guide and begin your journey to explore the lesser-known treasures of Luxor’s West Bank, where history feels more intimate and deeply preserved.
Then you’ll visit the Valley of the Queens, known in ancient times as “Ta-Set-Neferu” (The Place of Beauty). This sacred burial ground dates back to the New Kingdom (1570–1050 BC) and holds over 75 tombs of queens and royal family members from the 18th, 19th, and 20th dynasties. Just like the Valley of the Kings, its simple exterior was designed to protect the treasures inside from tomb robbers, while the interiors reveal stunning artistry and royal legacy.
After that, you’ll head to the majestic Medinet Habu Temple, one of the most impressive temples on the West Bank. Originally associated with the sacred appearance of the god Amun, the site was developed during the New Kingdom by Hatshepsut and Thutmose III, and later expanded by Ramses III. The temple complex is uniquely designed like a fortified Syrian Migdol, surrounded by massive walls, with a grand entrance known as the pavilion gate. It even features a canal that once connected it directly to the Nile, reflecting its importance and grandeur.
For lunchtime, take a break from exploring and enjoy a relaxing meal at one of the city’s charming local restaurants. Sitting by the Nile River or in a cozy traditional setting, you can recharge while experiencing authentic Egyptian hospitality.
Next, you’ll explore Deir El-Medina, the village and burial site of the skilled workers who built the royal tombs. Established during the 19th dynasty, this site offers a rare look into the daily lives of ancient artisans. The tombs here became family burial sites over time, with fascinating discoveries including burials of children and adults, preserved in jars, coffins, and chambers across the hills.
Finally, you’ll visit the magnificent Ramesseum Temple, the funerary temple of Ramses II (1279–1213 BC). Dedicated to the god Amun and built as a symbol of eternal legacy, the temple features a colossal 17-meter seated statue of Ramses II and beautifully carved walls illustrating the famous Battle of Kadesh, the Syrian wars, and the grand Festival of Min.
At the end of the day, you will be transferred back to your hotel or Nile Cruise, carrying unforgettable memories of Luxor’s hidden historical gems.
