Upon arrival, your private Egyptologist guide will meet you and lead you on an unforgettable journey through the most iconic attractions of Luxor.
Your first stop will be the legendary Valley of the Kings. Here, the proud rulers of the Eighteenth, Nineteenth, and Twentieth Dynasties of the New Kingdom (1550–1070 BC) chose to be laid to rest. Wander through 63 royal tombs hidden within the west and east valleys of the Theban Necropolis. This sacred site was carefully selected for its mythological significance: the sun sets in the west, symbolizing death, and rises in the east, symbolizing rebirth.
Next, you will visit the magnificent Hatshepsut Temple, the holy sanctuary of the golden Queen Hatshepsut (1473–1458 BC). Built by Senenmut over 15 years, this stunning temple spans three terraces adorned with intricate decorations that narrate the extraordinary achievements and history of one of Egypt’s most remarkable rulers.
Then, you will witness the towering Colossi of Memnon, crafted from quartzite sandstone by Pharaoh Amenhotep III in 1350 BC. These magnificent statues have stood the test of time, guarding Luxor’s west bank for millennia. Roman-era inscriptions across the statues tell tales of Greek mythology, honor the queen Tiye, the mother Mutemwiya, and even the god of the Nile, Hapi.
After exploring these wonders, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant in Luxor.
After lunch, your journey continues with a visit to the grand Karnak Temple, the most celebrated religious site of ancient Egypt, Dedicated to the Theban triad: Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. Spanning 247 acres, Karnak Temple is one of the largest religious sites in human history, with grand inner temples, shrines, and colossal pillars built over a period stretching from the Middle Kingdom to the Greco-Roman period (2055 BC – 100 AD). Walking through its hypostyle halls and massive columns, you’ll feel the grandeur of ancient Egyptian architecture and the devotion of its builders.
Finally, you will be transferred back to the train station to board your 1st class train to Aswan, and from there, comfortably driven back to your hotel or Nile cruise, bringing an end to your spectacular day trip to Luxor.
